Recently iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in pregnant women has become more frequent with no tendency to decrease. In the vast majority (98%) anemia in pregnancy is the result of iron deficiency. Patients with IDA are at significantly higher risk of such complications of gestation as spontaneous miscarriage, premature birth, chronic hypoxia and intrauterine growth retardation. Women with IDA are often exposed to the weakness of labor and bleeding, puerperal - to suppurative inflammation and other complications of the postpartum period.
The paper discusses in detail the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of IDA in obstetric practice. The problem of IDA treatment with various iron-containing drugs is observed as well as benefits of highly effective complex Ferro-Folgamma.
Prophylactic intake of Ferro- Folgamma in women at risk reduces the incidence of diseases associated with iron deficiency. Normalization of iron level leads to decrease and disappearance of hemic and circulatory hypoxia, that prevents development of secondary metabolic disorders and reduces the frequency of antenatal and post-natal complications.
Thus, IDA prevention and treatment with Ferro-Folgamma improves well-being in pregnant and postpartum women, reduces the risk of obstetric and neonatal complications.
Key words: iron deficiency anemia, pregnancy, obstetric complications, Ferro-Folgamma.
