Osteoarthritis (OA) is a group of diseases, based on the violation of all joint components. The main OA development mechanisms include reparative process disorders, “mechanical stress” and chronic inflammation in the joint. In OA, a concomitant pathology is 1.2 times more likely to be manifested; 2.5 times more often there is a combination of 3 diseases, i.e. there is a phenomenon called comorbidity. Comorbidity is the manifestation of an additional clinical condition that exists or arises in the setting of the current disease. In OA, the progression risk of a stroke, peptic ulcer and metabolic syndrome increases. The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in patients with OA increases the risk of complications from the gastrointestinal tract and the cardiovascular system. Symptomatic slow-acting drugs for osteoarthritis (SYSADOAs) have a more favorable safety profile, have their ow n analgesic effect and are involved in the catabolic inflammation suppression that underlies the OA progression. One of the drugs in this group is Alflutop®, the effectiveness and safety of which are shown in a number of preclinical and clinical studies. Alflutop® can be used to treat OA in patients with comorbid conditions.
