In recent years, there is a high incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) among children, which is up to 80% in the ARI morbidity patterns in the overall population. Despite the viral ARI (ARVI) prevalence, there is an unreasonably high (up to 70% and higher in different countries) prescription rate of antibiotic drugs (ABDs) in uncomplicated ARVI by primary care physicians. In this regard, the issues of bacterial infection pathogens’ resistance to ABDs become of vital importance, which necessitates an approaches revision to the ABDs use: their unjustified use cancellation, especially in children with uncomplicated ARVI, drug and regimen choice optimization. At the same time, the ABDs prescription significance remains in ARI complications, rhinosinusitis, pneumonia, otitis, prolonged bronchitis in children as well and etc. ABDs may serve as a frontline drug for local (inhaled) administration such as Fluimucil®-antibiotic IT which impacts directly to the source of infection with its fast therapeutic effect achievement, without adverse events, peculiar to the systemic ABDs.

Keywords: antibiotic therapy, children, therapy, ARI, Fluimucil-antibiotic IT.
