In modern conditions, the problem of improving additional professional education of medical personnel acquires special importance. The accession of the Russian Federation to the Bologna Process in 2003 contributed to the reformation and regulation of the admission of health care professionals, in particular otorhinolaryngological and surdological doctors, to professional activities.
The article presents an analysis of data on the organization of the process of advanced training of doctors in the conditions of a system of continuous medical education (SCME), focused on the achievement of results that meet the requirements and standards of accreditation of national and international level. The forms of ensuring the consistency and continuity of the educational cycle, possible algorithms of achievement by students of professional competence, procedures of accumulation of credits by specialists working in the system of Russian health care are presented. One of the ways to solve the problem was the creation of professional standards and the transformation of the system for evaluating the qualifications of doctors, the transition from a certification system to a system of accreditation of medical personnel.
The SCME is a framework for the continuous improvement of professional knowledge and skills throughout professional life, as well as the enhancement of professional competencies and continuous professional development.

Keywords: continuous medical education, accreditation of specialists, reform, competence, professional standards, forms of educational activity, distance learning.
