Comorbid Puzzle: a Key to Patient’s Health (post-release)

From November 19 to November 21, 2025, the XX anniversary National Congress of Internists organized by the Russian Scientific Medical Society of Internal Medicine (RSMSIM), was held in Moscow. As part of the Congress, Kanonpharma Production held a Comorbid Puzzle: Key to Patient’s Health symposium. Hypertension considered as a systemic destabilizing factor that triggers or exacerbates damage to the brain, kidneys, blood vessels and liver, was a cross-cutting issue of the symposium. A relationship between blood pressure levels and a risk of cognitive impairment was specified, and a need to choose antihypertensive drugs with cerebroprotective potential was substantiated. Hypertension was separately presented as a centerpiece of comorbidity requiring round-the-clock pressure monitoring and protection of target organs. Special attention was given to secondary prevention in patients with a history of cardiovascular events. The concept of comorbidity has been extended to include non-alcoholic fatty liver disease as an essential component of metabolic syndrome which affects cardiovascular prognosis directly.

Keywords: comorbidity, hypertension, cognitive impairment, metabolic syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, compliance.
