Lumbar pain (LP) is a common musculoskeletal pain syndrome characterized by a high relapse rate. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which have a powerful analgesic effect, are the most widely used drugs for the treatment of patients with LP. The goal of treatment is not only to eliminate LP, but also to ensure the highest possible level of daily activity for the patient, with the necessary safety of the therapeutic process. The article discusses the possibility of using nimesulide (Nize ®) for the treatment of patients with LP, the efficacy and safety of therapy with the use of oral and transdermal forms (Nize gel). Current information on the potential risks of using nimesulide in clinical practice is analyzed, in particular, taking into account the information on its adverse effect on liver function. It is noted that the published results of randomized clinical and cohort studies conducted in recent years have confirmed the high efficacy of the drug, low ulcerogenic and cardiovascular risks, relative safety of application in relation to liver function. It is emphasized that to increase the safety of treatment, it is necessary to follow closely the instructions for the use of Nize, to consider the peculiarities of the health state of the patient to whom the drug is prescribed, to take into account the possibility of both achieving a positive effect from treatment, and the development of side effects. It was noted that the availability of both enteral and transdermal forms of Nize provides the opportunity to choose the dose of the drug and the form of administration depending on the specific clinical situation.
