Russian сlinical guidelines on lipid metabolism disorders 2024. What’s new?

I.V. Sergiyenko

National Medical Research Center of Cardiology, Moscow

Lipid metabolism disorders or dyslipidemia include a whole range of conditions when the lipid and lipoprotein count in the blood exceeds the norm. Dyslipidemia can be caused by both acquired (secondary) and hereditary (primary) causes and associated with an increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. The article discusses the main changes in the updated clinical recommendations on lipid metabolism disorders approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and approved for use from 2024 versus the current recommendations for the diagnosis and correction of lipid metabolism disorders, VII Edition, published by the National Atherosclerosis Society in 2020. Modern aspects of the Russian recommendations are also compared with similar provisions in the European Atherosclerotic Society / European Cardiology Society (EAS/ECS) recommendations on the prevention of cardiovascular complications in clinical practice and the patient management in dyslipidemia in 2019, 2021. Particular emphasis was placed on changes in the recommendations for the patient management of certain categories in accordance with the data of recent meta-analyses and systematic reviews.

Keywords: recommendations, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular risk categories, SCORE2-OP scale, target level, cholesterol, low-density lipoproteins.
