Iron deficiency is recognized as one of the most common deficiencies in nutritional products in the world. Most complications of pregnancy are associated with iron deficiency conditions, which also significantly impair the condition of the fetus. The need for iron during pregnancy tends to constant growth, reaching 5 mg / day in the III trimester. Iron deficiency is clinically manifested by anemia, and its most common form is iron deficiency anemia (IDA). The article discusses in detail the manifestations of anemic and sideropenic syndromes caused by tissue iron deficiency and tissue hypoxia, describes the criteria for various degrees of the iron deficiency severity, the manifestations of the IDA stages. IDA is difficult to treat only by correcting the diet and getting balanced and health food. As a rule, treatment of IDA requires patients taking iron-containing medications. The drug of the first choice for the treatment of IDA is Ferro-Folgamma. The drug is widely used for the prevention and treatment of IDA in pregnant and lactating women due to its high effectiveness, good tolerability, safety for women during pregnancy and lactation, the absence of serious complications and excellent pharmacoeconomic characteristics.
