Acute enteric infections (AEIs) are one of the leading health problems among infectious diseases in children due to the following causes: a wide range of pathogens, a variety of transmission routes, cohort high vulnerability, as well as a limited arsenal of specific prophylaxis. At present, the leading etiological agents are diarrheagenic viruses. However, AEIs of bacterial etiology are also relevant, among which salmonellosis comes first. AEIs of combined etiology are a problem for practical healthcare, which account for up to 26% in all AEIs structure. Combined AEIs clinical signs are diverse and can be manifested by summing up their bacterial and viral characteristics. The clinical picture of RVI dominates in a combination of rotavirus infection (RVI) and norovirus infection (NVI). In the RVI and salmonell osis combination, the following symptoms are noted: fever, the colitis nature of the stool. Vomiting is less pronounced than in patients with RVI. The clinical symptoms variety of mixed infections and their manifestations difference from those in single-agent infections can lead to an untimely diagnosis, which requires a differentiated approach to each patient. Thus, timely and adequate therapy can shorten the acute and convalescence periods, as well as reduce the risk of complications.
Keywords: children, metabiotics, combined acute enteric infections, rotavirus infection, norovirus infection, microbiota, diarrhea, Hylak forte.
