Over the past decades, there has been a steady increase in allergic diseases of the upper respiratory tract. In terms of prevalence, and the influence on the health and quality of life of patients allergic rhinitis (AR) occupies a leading place in the structure of allergopathology, its specific gravity reaches 60-70%. AR is one of the most common diseases, its prevalence and frequency continues to grow at a rather high rate. According to the results of epidemiological studies, more than 20% of the population of all age groups suffer from AR. Treatment of AR patients includes non-pharmacological and pharmacological methods. All drugs used to treat AR can be divided into 2 groups: 1) drugs that control the symptoms of the disease, and 2) drugs that have a truly therapeutic effect. The last group includes, primarily, intranasal glucocorticosteroids (InGCS). Experimental and clinical studies show that glucocorticoids affect practically all stages of pathogenesis of AR. Their therapeutic effect in AR is primarily associated with anti-inflammatory and desensitizing effects. The article describes the experience and application of InGCS budesonide with the trade name Tafen® nasal in the treatment of AR.

Key words: allergic rhinitis, allergen, intranasal glucocorticosteroids, budesonide, Tafen nasal.
