Laryngeal granuloma is unilateral and bilateral benign neoplasm located on the vocal processes of the arytenoid cartilage. The laryngeal granulomas aetiology is multifactorial and incompletely studied. Our work aimed to identify the recurrence predictors of laryngeal granuloma after surgical treatment. The study was conducted at the Department of Otolaryngology with I.P. Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University in the period from October 2016 to March 2019 The histories analysis of 19 patients (15 men and 4 women) with this diagnosis was carried out. Patients underwent complex treatment — laser microsurgical tumor removal and long-term conservative therapy. The follow-up period of patients after surgical treatment was 4 years. In four cases there was a relapse in terms of up to 6 months. The number of operations varied from 1 to 3, and the average interval between interventions was 3 months. The following factors of laryngeal granuloma development and recurrence were analyzed: voice load, smoking, presence of infection foci, GERD. According to our data, significant relapse predictors include not only excessive vocal load and GERD but also the presence of infection foci in the tonsils and smoking.

Keywords: larynx, vocal load, nonspecific granuloma, benign tumors of the larynx, laser surgery, relapse predictors.
