Aim. To assess the efficacy and tolerability of Retinalamin for the treatment of various ophthalmic disorders (one or two consecutive treatment courses with a 3-month interval).
Patients and methods. The study included 4172 patients (64% of women and 36% of men) aged 18 years and older (mean age 59 ± 17 years) with dry and wet macular degeneration, primary open-angle glaucoma with normal IOP, diabetic retinopathy, and myopic disease. The efficacy of Retinalmin was evaluated after 1, 3, 4, and 6 months (two treatment courses) or after 1, 3, and 6 months of the therapy (one treatment course) by the changes in visual acuity and visual fields (overall improvement, resolution of scotomas, improvement of MD and PSD).
Results. Visual functions tended to improve during the follow-up. Significant improvement of best-corrected visual acuity, peripheral visual fields, and perimetric indices as well as resolution of scotomas were observed after 1 and 3 months of the therapy. Later, most parameters remained stable.
Retinalamin for various ophthalmic disorders (two treatment courses with a 3-month interval) is well tolerated and has no significant adverse side effects/
