Medical Consensus "On the use of drugs based on polynucleotides for injection therapy of the upper limb, lower limb and spine pathologies"
Polynucleotides (PNs) (DNA preparations) have been used in medicine for more than 20 years. The popularity of using PN as a therapeutic option is due not only to their safety but also to pleiotropic biological effects. An Expert Council of practitioners was convened to determine the general approach to the PN treatment and to clarify the aspects of use in various orthopedic pathologies, the result of which was the formation of Medical Consensus. It outlines the basic principles of the PN use for topical injection therapy, dosing regimen, the possibility of use with other drugs, restrictions and contraindications. The information presented in the Medical Consensus may be useful for rheumatologists and neurologists.
Keywords: polynucleotides, hyaluronic acid, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, osteoarthritis, synovitis, perioperative management, impingement syndrome.
