Neck wounds are dangerous injuries that affect the quality of life of patients.
Aim: to study the long-term results and the quality of life of patients operated for gunshot and stab wounds of the neck.
Patients and Methods: the study enrolled 129 patients with various wounds of a neck, among them gunshot wounds — 67 (52%) and stab wounds — 62 (48%). The age of the patients is 46±5 years. The study of long-term results of treatment and quality of life of such patients is carried out.
Results:  among 67 patients operated for gunshot wounds of the neck, 48 patients (71.6%) have no complaints, and they lead an active lifestyle. The remaining 19 patients (28.4%) have various complaints. Among the patients with stab wounds, 58 patients (93.5%) don’t have any complaints and feel well; only 4 patients (6.5%) have complaints. In patients with gunshot wounds of the neck in the late postoperative period, the indicators of the quality of life, which characterize the psychological component, are decreasing. At the same time, the physical health indicators correspond to the data obtained in the comparison group, with the exception of the role-physical functioning  index. The decrease in this indicator is caused by the limited ability to manage the household due to the state of health.
Conclusion: the best results and the best quality of life in the late postoperative period are revealed in patients after stab wounds of the neck compared with those after gunshot wounds.

Key words: neck wounds, late postoperative period, quality of life.
