An urgent task of medicine is the search and study of new cardiovascular biological markers providing early diagnosis of heart diseases, serve as a tool for evaluating the treatment efficacy, act as a prognostic marker and a criterion for risk stratification. We conducted an analysis of literary sources, which included all relevant publications up to 27.07.2023, in the following databases: PubMed/MEDLINE, RSCI, Google Scholar, Science Direct. The search was performed using the following keywords: biological markers, cardiovascular diseases, secretoneurin. The review included 35 sources: current experimental, laboratory, clinical studies and reviews.
Studies conducted to date on secretoneurin indicated the potentially diagnostic and prognostic significance of evaluating this marker in patients with cardiovascular pathology. Secretoneurin beneficial effect on the heart and blood vessels state allowed us to consider this marker as a therapeutic target. The combination of secretoneurin with other biological markers, in particular, the brain natriuretic peptide and its precursor, might increase the prognostic value of the models. Nevertheless, the issues related to batch testing of this marker, including in the conditions of a multimarker panel, need further study.
Keywords: cardiovascular diseases, biological markers, secretoneurin, early diagnosis.
