Moscow Clinical Research and Practical Center

Recent studies demonstrate that nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an important medical social issue. However, currently, we have no universal treatment approach. Most pharmaceutical agents for chronic liver disorders affect pathogenic mechanisms thus being referred to hepatic pro-tectors in Russia. Each drug has an application point. Hepatic protectors with antioxidant properties are used in clinical practice (including NAFLD) for a long time. Among them, morpholine methyl-triazolil-thioacetate/Thiotriazolin is of special interest. Post-marketing trial evaluated the efficacy of Thiotriazolin for NAFLD, in particular, its effect on clinical signs (asthenia, indifference, appetite disorders) and blood biochemistry (cytolysis level and lipid profile). These findings confirmed anti-oxidant properties of morpholine methyl-triazolil-thioacetate. Thiotriazolin improved biochemical parameters. This agent can be recommended for NAFLD with cytolysis and cholestasis. The study demonstrated its hepatic protective effect and good tolerability.

Key words: nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), drugs with antioxidant properties, cytolysis, post-marketing open trial.
