The paper addresses scientific basis for the mechanisms and effects of pharmacopuncture, a method which involves the administration of medications into acupuncture points. These data can be considered as a report on 15-year studies using socially important “model” of a vertebral disorder. The first series of studies uncovers the aspects of pharmacopuncture with complex homeopathic medicines (i.e., Discus compositum, Placenta compositum, and Zeel T) and specifies mechanisms of their action; the results demonstrate high efficacy of this approach. Comparative study of pharmacopuncture and electrophoresis using Zeel T revealed mosaic responses, therefore, indications to these techniques are different. Large-scale placebo control provided strong evidences for pharmapuncture with complex homeopathic medicines. The second series of studies involved pharmacopuncture with “classic” agent Alflutop. The results demonstrate its advantages as compared with other regimens. However, the efficacy of pharmacopuncture with Alflutop is inferior to that of other homeopathic medications. The study on pharmacopuncture with Alflutop and bio-resonance exposure revealed that these approaches can be combined. Pharmacopuncture using complex homeopathic medicines is effective and therapeutically safe. Bio-resonance technique improves low effectiveness of “classic” agent.

Key words: acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, dorsopathies, complex homeopathic medicines, instrumental treatment, evidence-based medicine.
