The normal microflora of the genital tract of healthy women of reproductive age has a different species composition, represented by a wide spectrum of microaerophiles, amphimicrobians and strict anaerobs. Currently, the term "bacterial vaginosis" includes the imbalance in the microbial vaginal flora, in which lactobacilli are replaced by opportunistic anaerobes.
The aim of our study was to assess the effectiveness of the drug Elzhina in women of the reproductive period with a recurring bacterial vaginosis as a monotherapy for ten days.
Patients and methods. In the course of the study, 30 patients with bacterial vaginosis from 18 to 40 years were examined; The recurrent bacterial vaginosis every 2-3 months was confirmed clinically and laboratory. All patients underwent a local monotherapy with Elzhina.
Results. According to the results of the vaginal microflora culture study, all the patients had a decrease in lactobacilli. When analyzing the results of a microscopic examination of the vaginal smears immediately after the treatment, and also after three months, all the examined patients had no signs of an inflammatory reaction, some morphotypes of microorganisms and "key cells" disappeared, the initially increased values of conditionally pathogenic microorganisms were normal in all observations. Bacterial vaginosis was detected in 1 woman. When examined for the presence of sexually transmitted infections, no pathological changes were detected by the PCR method.
Conclusion. Treatment of bacterial vaginosis with the local combined preparation Elzhina allows not only to significantly improve the results of treatment and reduce the number of relapses of this disease, but also reduces the risk of developing cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.
Key words. A combination drug with antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory action for topical application in gynecology, bacterial vaginosis, inflammatory vaginal diseases, vaginal microflora.
